“Complete dictatorship of PM Modi and central government”: Congress leader Madhu Goud Yaskhi on LS row

Underlining the role of the opposition in democracy, Yaskhi described the incident as “complete dictatorship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government”.
Yaskhi said, “As a member of parliament for 10 years, I can say that nothing like this has ever happened in history. LoP does not represent just one political party, but all political opposition parties in the Lok Sabha. Democracy cannot survive without a strong opposition. This is a complete dictatorship of Prime Minister Modi and the central government. Coercing the speaker, undermining his position and not allowing LoP to speak to the speaker. This is against the fundamental principles of democracy and the constitution.” he told ANI.
He also called for public protests against the central government and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
“I urge the people of India to raise their voices against the NDA government and the undemocratic functioning of the Lok Sabha speaker,” he added.
The Congress leader also lashed out at Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and BJP national president Nitin Nabin for their campaigns in the Telangana municipal elections.
Yaskhi criticized the parties’ campaign narratives and maintained that the Congress was relying on people’s support in urban local elections. “The Congress party will crush the municipal elections scheduled for next week. The BJP National President, the Chief Minister or the entire BJP clan can campaign anywhere, but all the 8 seats led by the BJP will come to the Congress. No matter how much they campaign and how much money they spend, they will lose miserably,” he said.
“Pawan Kalyan supports the BJP more than his party. Everyone should come and campaign for the BJP. We will win the municipal elections under the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy,” he added.
Last week, the Telangana State Election Commission announced the official schedule of municipal elections with voting on February 11 and results on February 13.
Elections are planned for 116 municipalities and seven companies.
On Monday last week, the Telangana State cabinet decided to hold municipal elections at the earliest and instructed officials to complete all necessary arrangements by February.
According to highlights of the meeting shared by the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office, the decision came after the Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at Medaram in Mulugu district on January 18.
Elections will be held in 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations across the state, covering 2,996 wards and divisions with expiring terms. The Cabinet noted that the reservation process has already been completed as per the report of the Special Commission.
