Dhurandhar actor Rakesh Bedi REACTS to backlash for ‘kissing’ on-screen daughter Sara Arjun: ‘Affection of elderly man…’
While Rakesh Bedi received widespread acclaim for his outstanding performance as Pakistani politician Jameel Jamali in Dhurandhar, he was also trolled on social media after netizens claimed that he kissed 20-year-old Sara Arjun at the film’s trailer launch event.

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar is emerging as one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian cinema with global collections crossing Rs 700 million in just two weeks. One of the biggest reasons behind its massive success is the powerful performances of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan. Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi is also highly appreciated for his extraordinary performance as Pakistani politician Jameel Jamali.
But Bedi, known for his iconic comic roles in Chashme Buddoor and Shrimaan Shrimati, was trolled on social media after netizens claimed that he kissed 20-year-old Sara Arjun while greeting her at the Dhurandhar trailer launch event. Sara, an accomplished child actress, is making her debut as a leading lady opposite Ranveer Singh and plays Bedi’s daughter Yalina Jamali. Rakesh Bedi, 71, has now reacted to this backlash and called it “very stupid”.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, the Gadar 2 actor said, “Sara is younger than half my age and plays my daughter. Whenever we met during the shoot, she would greet me with a hug, just like a daughter does with her father. There is a beautiful harmony and friendship between us, which reflects on the screen. That day was no different, but people do not see the love there. The love of an old man for a young girl. Dekhne wale ki aankh mein gadbad hai to kya kar sakte ho? (People do this wrong.) Stating that Sara’s parents, actor Raj Arjun and dance teacher Sanya Arjun were present at the launch of the Dhurandhar trailer, Bedi said, “Why would I maliciously kiss her on stage in front of everyone? I mean, her parents were there. People go crazy when they claim these things. They just have to create a problem out of nothing on social media.”
Coming back to Dhurandhar, the latest blockbuster will be followed by its sequel Dhurandhar Part 2: Revenge, which is scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, just three months after the first part released on December 5. Dhurandhar 2 will clash at the box office with Yash’s pan-Indian gangster drama Toxic and Mrunal Thakur-starrer action drama Dacoit.
