Something Better, or much worse? An history of splinter parties

This was the final straw for former journalist and Liberal staffer Charlotte Mortlock, who had watched leader after leader try “nothing” as a solution to the Liberal Party’s many problems with women and then give up entirely.
The founder of Hilma’s Network, an organization designed to encourage greater participation of women in the Liberal Party, has launched a new political party called “A Better Australia”. Mortlock, a leading moderate while a member of the Liberals, left the party when Ley was sacked and will now devote his energies to a party that promises “an energetic, constructive community supporting Australia and building a modern political party fit for purpose”.
