The body of a young boy who went missing on a three-day camping trip has been found. A 16-year-old teenager was found dead in a national park in Australia.

His body was found by police in the Blue Mountains, just 60km from Sydney, on Thursday (January 29) after a rescue helicopter joined the search operation, T reported.o Mirror.

On Tuesday, January 27, he went on a camping trip with his 17-year-old friend.

According to officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command, the pair went to Leura Railway Station before heading towards Mt Hay.

At around 5.45pm on Wednesday, January 28, the 17-year-old activated his personal locator beacon after being separated from his friend.

A land and air search was launched and the 17-year-old was removed from the Acacia Flats campsite by crane; However, his 16-year-old friend could not be located.

The search continued with the involvement of local police, as well as the Blue Mountains Rescue Team, PolAir, NSW Ambulance paramedics and TOLL Rescue Helicopter.

The body of the missing child was found in a stream in the Blue Gum Forest around 13:00 on Thursday.

The police will prepare a report to present to the coroner after the young man’s death. An autopsy will be performed in the coming days to determine the cause of death and a report will be prepared to be submitted to the Forensic Medicine.
