Royal Family LIVE: Meghan’s claim disputed by dad’s friend – ‘entirely untrue’ | Royal | News

Meghan Markle has been criticized for claiming her father’s reporter friend “violated clear ethical boundaries” when supporting her in hospital. The Duchess of Sussex accused Daily Mail reporter Caroline Graham of “broadcasting every interaction” with Thomas, 81, and making it “extremely difficult” for her to contact him after he underwent major leg amputation surgery.

But a spokesman for the Mail’s parent company said: “When Thomas Markle fell ill in the Philippines, Caroline contacted Graham and asked him to travel from Los Angeles to be with her. As well as being a journalist, Caroline has been friends with Mr Markle since 2018. “She was with Mr Markle in hospital every day, providing him with care and support.

“As soon as Mr. Markle gave permission for his contact information, hospital name and room number to be released to his daughter’s spokesperson, Caroline shared them. It is entirely untrue that every interaction was published, and any claim that Caroline breached ethical boundaries is patently false and is strongly denied.”

Meghan was reportedly left phoning hospitals in the Philippines in a panic after learning her father was seriously ill. It was understood that she did not have a phone number after their relationship broke down before her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.

Her spokesperson confirmed this week: “Given that a Daily Mail reporter remained at her father’s side throughout, broadcasting every interaction and breaching clear ethical boundaries, it has been extremely difficult for the duchess to contact her father privately, despite her efforts over the last few days. With the support of trusted and trusted contacts, her correspondence is now safely in his hands.”
