Outrage over America’s worst school where students fight, smoke weed and have sex in full view of horrified neighbors
Residents who live near Woodrow Wilson High School have spoken out about rowdy students who they say have no qualms about fighting each other in public and having sex in people’s driveways.
A woman named Heather, who declined to give her name for fear of retaliation from students, said: Long Beach Post that out-of-control teenagers are more frequently disrupting the peace in the blocks surrounding the school.
According to Heather, the school, located in Long Beach, California, often ignores her and other neighbors’ concerns.
He said students were smoking pot outdoors, urinating in his yard and trespassing on people’s property.
In 2020, Heather moved to Long Beach when schools were closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said there has been “chaos” since Wilson High School reopened. He has shot numerous videos over the years showing fights between students.
On Tuesday, the worst fight yet spilled into the streets near the school, according to Heather and security footage shared with the Long Beach Post.
‘I see a large herd of students leaving the campus,’ he said. ‘I knew right away there was going to be a fight.’
Neighbors of Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California, said students routinely brought chaos to surrounding streets. Fights are common, and some students are even brave enough to have sex in people’s driveways.
He said he called the police, but not before the pack of teenagers got into cars and trampled his yard.
Security footage reportedly showed dozens of students running toward Prospect Street. Many students were seen recording the fight on their phones.
The fights calmed down but started again on the school grounds, at which time the authorities finally intervened.
About 15 minutes later, school security guards and officers from the Long Beach Police Department arrived. However, at that time, the students had already dispersed.
“Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate the fight,” the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.
A school spokesman told the Long Beach Post that a fight broke out in the same area after school about a month ago.
So Heather said she was surprised the school wasn’t prepared or equipped to deal with this again.
Heather says she ‘faced a wall’ when she called the school.
Heather and two neighbors who declined to be named told the Long Beach Post that they want students to be more supervised by school security guards and city police as they leave campus.
‘Am I really going to call the police every time something happens?’
Heather and her neighbors called school board members, the superintendent and City Council members, but were largely unsuccessful.
He said he received a call from the superintendent’s office on Thursday, where he was informed they were looking to find a solution.
The school district said that in both fights this academic year, ‘school staff notified the parents of the students involved, worked to deescalate the situation, separated the students, and restored order.’
Staff also tried to resolve disagreements between students who were fighting.
‘While school staff’s ability to intervene is diminished when fights occur off campus, staff proactively monitor areas immediately adjacent to school grounds,’ a district spokesperson said.
Heather and two neighbors who declined to be named told the Long Beach Post that they want students to be more supervised by school security guards and city police as they leave campus.
One neighbor said he was seriously considering putting the ongoing fights aside.
