CAQM admits no research has been done behind overage vehicle ban

The Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) admitted that the pollution caused by diesel vehicles older than 10 years of age and that it did not conduct any research or work caused by gasoline vehicles older than 15 years of age, which constitutes the basis of excess vehicle ban in Delhi-NCR.

In response to an RTI application made by Environmentalist Amit Gupta, CAQM said that he did not do any pollution research or work on the impact of such vehicles.

When asked if there was another research that constitutes the basis of the ban, the commission said that the restrictions in the “End of Life” vehicles stem from the order of the National Green Court against the Vardhman Kaushik of the National Green Court in India and the Ors Union and the Supreme Court in India & Ors Union.
Last month, CAQM is the implementation of the directive that fuel stations in Delhi should not supply such excess vehicles until October 31st.

The decision came after the Delhi government specifying “operational and infrastructure difficulties” in the implementation of the measure as of July 1.

EOL vehicles include diesel vehicles older than 10 years of age and gasoline vehicles over 15 years of age, regardless of the state they are registered with. According to official data, Delhi has 62 lakh vehicles, including 41 lakh two wheels. In the face of NCR, the number is often around 44 Lakh, which concentrates in Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and Sonipat. July order, Delhi fuel ban automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras after the establishment of this high -vehicle NCR region will be launched at the same time from November 1, he said. The mechanism will be expanded to the remaining NCR region as of April 1 next April.

The Delhi government told Caqm that they want to define EOL tools by checking the number plates against the Vahan database of the Anpr system.

The Delhi government said that the Anpr system, who wants to define EOL tools by checking the number plates against the Vahan database, said that the Anpr system is facing the incomplete integration with software disruptions, problems with camera settlement, defective sensors and neighboring state databases.

In the past, the Supreme Court and NGT have increased the authorities in terms of poor progress in polluting the old, polluting vehicles from NCR despite repeated instructions.

The Delhi government also applied for an investigation at the Apex court and requested that 2018’s ban on average vehicles be re -evaluated.
