I was in the room when Nigel Farage put the fear of god into Sadiq | Politics | News

About 10 years ago Labor was unopposed in London. One of the world’s largest global cities, full of left-wing immigrants. He loved Jeremy Corbyn and hated Brexit.

The Conservatives suffered defeat even on the field. Sadiq Khan has returned to City Hall three times so far; at least two of these were loveless, default victories due to shoddy opposition bids. But now, as we were told on Wednesday, there’s a “new sheriff in town” and he could be the one to give Londoners a fresh start.

Laila Cunningham, a woman most people in Westminster had not heard of a year ago but who has risen rapidly through the Reform ranks, has been announced as Nigel Farage’s candidate for mayor of London. A former Conservative councilor who defected last year is a Muslim woman and mother of seven.

Born and raised in London, she is posing the first real challenge to Mr Khan since he entered City Hall nine years ago.

She is a woman on a mission to constantly raise the issue of crime, women’s safety and put an end to race-obsessed Sadiq Khan’s hateful divide-and-rule strategy.

We haven’t seen a more refreshing entry into London politics since Boris Johnson entered the fray.

Ms. Cunningham rightly warned: “Khan can’t ignore me anymore.”

He introduced his policy more than two years after the election, but it is a sign that Reform is dead serious about mounting a serious challenge in a city that has been abandoned by Right-wing politics for too long.

His platform? “A London where our flag will fly proudly across the city as a symbol of unity and pride.

“A united London. There’s no need to divide us into boxes anymore; black, brown, gay, straight; we’re all Londoners in one box.”

As Farage warned Labor: “Don’t mess with a vigilante mother!”

Ms Cunningham made her name by tracking down masked robbers who targeted her children after police refused to take action. It’s clear that crime will be front and center of the Reform campaign, both in the mayoral election and the more pressing local elections in May.

Sadiq Khan and establishment commentators repeatedly claim that it’s all ridiculous when it comes to crime and that it’s all part of a far-right misinformation campaign that plays up the real fears of ordinary Londoners.

But whether it’s young professionals afraid to take their phones out on the street, mothers fearful for their school-age children and knife crime to gang-related violence terrorizing the streets, Londoners know crime is sky-high and they’re laying the blame at Sadiq Khan’s door.

Nigel Farage has admitted he has struggled to make headway in London before, but this time it feels different.

Just this week, a new poll came out showing Labor reaching record lows in the capital, with Reform in second place. Give this Government a few more years of failure and this could start to shift further in Nigel Farage’s favour.

Cunningham has been expertly chosen by Farage and the London Labor Party establishment should be very worried.
