PM Narendra Modi Hails Blind Women Cricketers in Mann Ki Baat

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation in the 128th episode of his monthly radio show Mann Ki Baat, praised the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for winning the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup.

PM Modi added that it was a great achievement for the Indian team to lift the prestigious title in the Visually Impaired T20 World Cup without losing a single match. Prime Minister Modi said, “Our women’s team won the Blind Cricket World Cup. It is a great achievement for the Indian team to win this tournament without losing a single match. Our citizens are proud of every player in this team.”

India created history by winning the inaugural T20 Women’s World Cup for the Blind. The India Women’s Cricket Team registered a convincing seven-wicket win against Nepal in a one-sided final in Colombo.

The Indian bowlers put in an all-round performance after opting to field first. Indian bowlers bowled tight streaks, restricting Nepal to 114/5 in 20 overs.

He ensured that he was no longer a threat by breaching the 100-run mark in the first 10 overs as the Indian batsmen chased.

Opener Phula Saren played a match-winning knock. He scored 44 runs from 27 balls, including four boundaries. His innings led India to chase the target in the 13th over and secure the title.

Apart from him, opener Karuna K also contributed with a 27-ball 42. Saren’s superb strike helped him win the Player of the Match award.

After writing the script of history, India captain Deepika TC said that they were very proud of this win. Deepika added that the entire team worked hard to lift the title: “We are very proud and it is a huge win.

Our entire team worked hard. We are a very strong team and other teams are afraid to play us. We are even ready to play with the men’s team,” Deepika said after TC won the match.

In the T20 Visually Impaired World Cup, India performed exceptionally well and went undefeated throughout the tournament to win the title.

India started their campaign by beating Sri Lanka. Against Australia, India registered a 57-run win after the Australians failed to hit the target of 293 runs. India beat their arch-rivals Pakistan and chased down the target of 136 runs in just 10.2 overs. In the semi-finals, India defeated Australia by nine wickets and sealed the trophy with a one-sided victory against Nepal.
