No One Wants Iran’s Top Job, Fears Being Killed by US: Trump

Washington DC: US President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday that he had stopped eight wars and suggested that similar success could be achieved with Iran. Speaking at the NRCC Annual Fundraising Dinner, Trump said Iran was willing to negotiate a deal but was hesitant to say so publicly.

He remarked that Iranian leadership is under immense pressure, adding that there has never been a head of a country who wanted the position less than Iran’s leadership. Trump also said that the United States has made significant progress in the Middle East and signaled that negotiations with Iran will continue.

Trump defended his decision to withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers. He argued that Iran was not complying with the agreement and claimed that continuing the agreement would allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons in a short time. He also criticized former President Barack Obama’s handling of the agreement.

Recalling his past actions, Trump highlighted the 2020 assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and called him a “bad man” but also a strong leader. He said the attack significantly affected Iran’s leadership and demonstrated the power of the United States on the global stage.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker MB Galibaf warned that hostile countries may plan to invade one of Iran’s islands. He stated that Iranian forces are closely monitoring developments and warned of strong retaliation if any action is taken.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the United States had failed to achieve its main war objectives, including achieving a quick military victory against Iran or achieving regime change.

Separately, reports indicate that the Pentagon has ordered approximately 2,000 additional US troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to move to the Middle East. This deployment adds to the two Marine Expeditionary Units already en route to the region from Japan and San Diego.
