D’Andre Swift rushing touchdown powers Chicago Bears past New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field

Chicago extended its winning streak to four games in Week 7 of the NFL season by defeating New Orleans 26-14 at Soldier Field on Saturday, October 19, 2025. New Orleans struck first when quarterback Spencer Rattler connected with wide receiver Chris Olave for a touchdown.

The score gave the Saints an early 7-0 lead, and Chicago responded with a methodical offensive drive. The Bears offense moved down the field but settled for a 39-yard field goal by Jake Moody. Chicago trailed 7-3 after the opening quarter.

Chicago’s defense produced back-to-back turnovers to build momentum in the first half. Cornerback Nahshon Wright intercepted Rattler, setting up the Bears offense at the New Orleans 30-yard line.

D’Andre Swift capitalized on the turnover with an 11-yard rushing touchdown, giving Chicago a 10-7 lead. Swift finished the game with 124 yards on 19 carries.


The Bears defense forced another turnover and Chicago increased its lead to 17-7 on a long catch-and-run by DJ Moore that set up Kyle Monongai’s first career touchdown pass. The rookie scored from short range as the Bears took control before halftime.

Rattler finds Olave for second goal as Saints reduce deficit

New Orleans took the first kickoff of the second half and advanced into Chicago territory. Rattler threw a 57-yard pass to Olave, who finished the drive with a 21-yard touchdown pass. The score reduced Chicago’s advantage to 17-14.
Saints wide receiver Chris Olave recorded 98 receiving yards on five receptions with two touchdowns. Running back Alvin Kamara gained 28 yards on 11 carries.
Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams completed 15 of 26 passes for 172 yards with one interception. Williams was sacked once by New Orleans linebacker Marcus Davenport.

Chicago defense holds off Saints’ comeback attempt as Moody field goals seal Bears’ victory

Moody converted a 33-yard field goal to extend Chicago’s lead to 20-14. The Bears prevented New Orleans from reaching the end zone on subsequent possessions.

Chicago added another field goal late in the fourth quarter to seal the final 26-14 lead. Moody finished 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, hitting shots from 39, 33 and a late insurance score.

The Bears defense held New Orleans to 253 total yards. Chicago linebacker Tremaine Edmunds recorded nine tackles with six solo stops. Defensive end Montez Sweat recorded a sack.

Coaching stories dominate Bears-Saints matchup with old connections

The game involved significant coaching connections between the organizations. Chicago hired former Saints head coach Dennis Allen as defensive coordinator while New Orleans head coach Kellen Moore faces the Bears.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler previously competed at the University of Oklahoma, where Williams replaced Rattler as the starting quarterback.

Chicago improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 at home. New Orleans fell to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in away games. The Saints extended their losing streak to six straight games.

Statistical analysis shows Bears edge in turnovers and time of possession

Chicago controlled possession for 36 minutes, 19 seconds compared to New Orleans’ 23 minutes, 41 seconds. The Bears recorded 23 first downs to 16 for the Saints.

Rattler completed 20 of 32 passes for 233 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Ball losses were decisive in determining the result.

Chicago kicked 10 penalties for 92 yards. New Orleans was flagged five times for 30 yards. The Bears converted 3 of 12 third-down attempts, while the Saints went 3-for-10.

Chicago earned its fourth straight victory behind a balanced offensive attack and opportunistic defense. The Bears defense forced three interceptions while the rushing attack accounted for 124 yards.

New Orleans continues to search for answers after falling to 1-6 on the season. The Saints were unable to win away from home in 2025 and fell to 0-3 in away games.
