Peter Kay reveals he caused ‘thousands of pounds’ worth of damage to rock star Eric Clapton’s holiday home in Provence

Peter Kay has revealed he accidentally caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to Eric Clapton’s lavish holiday home.

The 52-year-old comedian struck up an unlikely friendship with the legendary 80-year-old guitarist after they met backstage at a concert.

As their friendship developed, Eric invited Peter and his family to stay at his lavish, 16-bedroom mansion with an outdoor pool in Provence.

But Peter wasn’t a fan of cold pool water, so he went to the local supermarket and bought a paddling pool, which he inflated and filled with warm water on Eric’s garden patio.

The DIY solution worked; Peter said he could enjoy the warm water “sipping Baileys, watching Only Fools and Horses on the giant screen through the French doors.”

But disaster soon struck when he deflated the pool and discovered that the black-and-gold Versace towels he’d spread underneath were leaking paint onto the expensive sandstone patio tiles.

peter said Sun: ‘I grabbed some washing up liquid and some Fairy Fluid from the kitchen and we all started scrubbing but nothing was lifting.

‘I hooked it up to the supermarket and bought some steel wire brushes, industrial floor cleaner and a rake.’

To make matters worse, he accidentally filled the maid’s flower beds with leftover pool water.

The funnyman, who wrote the new book in Peter Kay’s diary, revealed that he had phoned Eric and offered to replace the plants and pay for the porch to be power washed.

But the Layla hitman was baffled by the whole thing, especially why Peter wasn’t using the real swimming pool.

Peter recalled: ‘He said, “Well, why didn’t you turn the heating on in the pool?” he said. It has heating. No bitch ever told me.’

It comes after Peter revealed he underwent emergency surgery for a giant kidney stone and required a stent after the surgery caused “major trauma” to his urinary tract.

The comedian detailed his terrifying health scare in his new book, published on Wednesday, and admitted his “world collapsed” when he learned the nature of his surgery.

Peter’s health struggle was featured in his book in an article he wrote in March a few years ago, sharing that he first started experiencing severe pain while on a train to Wigan and had to rush to use the toilet.

Two days later, he started feeling a throbbing pain in his lower back, and after Googling his symptoms, it was suggested he might have kidney stones.

He wrote: ‘Fast forward 24 hours and my suspicions were confirmed by a CT scan at the local hospital. It turned out that there was a large stone block at the exit of my right kidney.

‘He (the urologist) reassured me, but said I needed urgent surgery to remove the kidney stone; This will also involve placing a stent in my urethra to maintain my kidney function. Damn duck.

‘My pre-operative blood tests confirmed my suspicions that my kidney function was impaired. Here’s how the nurse put it sensitively. As shocked as I was, I was relieved and felt vindicated, because there was actually something wrong with me, and it wasn’t just hypochondria.

‘However, kidney stone pain is legendary, and I was starting to hiccup and occasionally make a high-pitched whining noise, like when you shoot an air rifle at a dog’s testicles.’

Peter was then told that the operation would involve a small camera equipped with a laser, which would enter his body and ‘burst’ the kidney stone.

The star admitted that she was stunned when she learned that the camera would enter her body from an unexpected place.

This led to Peter undergoing emergency surgery for a giant kidney stone and the surgery was done on his urinary tract.

He added: ‘Then, with great realization, the penny dropped. She means “Oh my God, it’s coming in through the hole at the tip of my penis.”

‘My world collapsed. Red lights flashed in my head. Can’t he get up there? Out of bounds, private land. Area 51. Even a camera wouldn’t fit in there, let alone a laser. ‘Was this guy using glue?’

Peter also shared that despite his embarrassment about the surgery, he went ahead with the procedure, and the anesthesiologist even asked him to take a selfie before he was put to sleep.

Once the stone was removed, Peter was left in pain for a week while using the toilet and then returned to remove the stent the same way the camera entered his body.

The stone was removed and Kay was left in severe pain for a week while using the toilet until she had to return to remove the stent as the camera had penetrated her body.

Peter added: ‘The urologist said I didn’t need any painkillers. ‘I don’t know which parks he went through, but he said it would be a walk in the park.’

‘The urologist advised me to take deep breaths and exhales, then he grabbed my penis and squeezed it like he was holding a snake, which caused my eyes to pop out like a cartoon.’

‘It was painful, unpleasant and a terrible experience that I never want to repeat. ‘On and on!’

Kidney stones affect more than one in ten people, mostly between the ages of 30 and 60, and are caused by waste products in blood-forming crystals. Over time, crystals accumulate and form a hard, stone-like lump.

When a kidney stone forms, the body will try to eliminate it through urine. Most are small enough to do this and can be managed at home.

However, when they grow too large, they can become extremely painful and surgery is often required to remove them.
