Behind the scenes of the risky China summit, tensions are reportedly rising as the world closely watches the US and Chinese leaders.
President Trump and Xi Jinping held talks covering controversial issues such as the Iran war, trade, technology and Taiwan.
Trump declared in a toast at the state banquet that the United States and China share “a deep sense of mutual respect,” but off-stage relations between the two countries appear to continue to deteriorate as the state visit progresses.
The trip was labeled a “s*** show” when it was reported that there had been a ‘standoff’ and that a US staff member had been manhandled by Chinese journalists backstage.
The first incident came to light Thursday morning, when a group of Chinese media broke into Trump’s meeting with President Xi, tackled a White House official, and knocked him over.

As the aide collapsed to the ground, American officials protested his behavior, but fortunately the personnel escaped without serious injury.
Members of Trump’s Secret Service also reportedly clashed with Chinese authorities after one of the agents was banned from entering a historic temple in Beijing because he was carrying a firearm.
One journalist noted that the “intense” standoff occurred during the first full day of Trump’s official visit, causing significant delays.
According to the White House press pool, the agent accompanying the reporters was stopped by Chinese security because of his firearm and was not allowed to enter the temple compound.

A dispute between US and Chinese officials caused a delay in media access to the temple complex; While journalists were briefly detained, representatives from both countries engaged in a heated debate over whether they could continue.
An American reporter held in the waiting area shouted, “We have to go!” he shouted.
As the US delegation ran through the square to reach Trump’s motorcade, Chinese officials reportedly followed it.
These behind-the-scenes tensions stand in stark contrast to the largely cordial talks between the two leaders so far; The conflict comes as Xi and Trump slowly tour the historic temple.
Despite the generally friendly atmosphere, Xi issued a stern warning about rising tensions between the two countries, warning that they “could come into conflict” during a two-hour summit early Thursday.
The Chinese leader said: “If managed correctly, bilateral relations can remain generally stable.
“If poorly managed, the two countries will clash or even enter into conflict, which will drag the entire China-US relationship into an extremely dangerous situation.”
