Deepti Sharma, Alyssa Healy headline marquee set; 277 players shortlisted, top stars at Rs 5000000 base

Deepti Sharma and Alyssa Healy are coming to the fore in the WPL as the league finalizes its auction pool. Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr and Kranti’s base price has been set at Rs 50 lakh and a total of 277 players have been listed for bidding in what promises to be one of the most competitive WPL auctions ever.
Ahead of the women’s Premier League (WPL) mega auction, BCCI has narrowed down the list of 277 players. There are 73 player slots available across five teams. The auction is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on November 27. While UP Warriorz will approach the auction with the largest budget of Rs 14.50 billion, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will have the smallest financial reserves.
During the WPL auction, key players will be the first to be announced. Eight players have been selected in this category, including six international players as well as India’s Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh. This group includes Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr from New Zealand, Sophie Ecclestone from England, Meg Lanning and Alyssa Healy from Australia and Laura Wolvaardt from South Africa.
Wolvaardt’s base price has been set at 30 lakh rupees, while Renuka’s has been set at 40 lakh rupees. Additionally, the base price for the six players in the Sliding Set is 50 lakh rupees. Additionally, 13 other actors including Phoebe Litchfield, Pooja Vastrakar, Kranti Goud, Pratika Rawal and Georgia Wareham will also have a base price of 50 lakh rupees.
After three seasons of the WPL, a mega auction is on the horizon. There are 73 player quotas in five teams, 23 of which are available for foreign players. The auction will showcase 83 foreign players, 155 unlimited players and participants from four partner countries. Additionally, 35 international players from India will also participate in the auction.
The youngest players in the auction will be 18-year-old Bangladesh all-rounder Shorna Akter and 19-year-old Jajra Claxton from the West Indies. 22-year-old Kranti Goud from India will also participate in the auction.
The five WPL teams have a total budget of INR 41.10 crore. Leading the group is UP Warriorz, who have the largest share at Rs 14.50 billion and have chosen not to retain any players except Shweta Sehrawat, who has no cap. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will enter the auction with a budget of 5.75 billion Indian rupees, followed by runners-up Delhi Capitals with 5.70 billion rupees.
While Gujarat Giants will also participate in the auction with a budget of Rs 9 billion, Royal Challengers Bangalore will have Rs 6.72 billion in hand. Additionally, each team will have 8 Right to Match (RTM) cards during the auction, with UP Warriorz having up to 4 cards. Gujarat will have 3 RTM cards and Bangalore will have 1 card.
