Drugs and stolen baby formula seized in Peel Region bust, say cops

A four-month investigation of an alleged criminal group accused of trading stolen baby formula for drugs has resulted in charges against 11 people, say Peel Regional Police.

Police said Monday that the investigation — dubbed Project Bengal — was triggered by a community complaint from Mississauga’s Meadowvale area.

“The investigation revealed an organized crime group involved in both drug trafficking and targeting commercial retail businesses,” police alleged in a statement. “The group was allegedly stealing high-demand baby product, such as baby formula and vitamins, from local retailers and exchanging them for drugs.”

The investigation culminated in the execution of two search warrants in which officers say they  seized drugs, including 500 grams of cocaine, as well as $30,000 worth of stolen property — baby formula, diapers and other items — and more than $34,000 in cash.

Police said 11 people face 33 charges.

Toronto Police say they’re looking for a man who allegedly harassed a victim repeatedly during a two-year period.

Police said officers were called to the Coxwell Ave.-Dundas St. area on June 27 to deal with harassment allegations.

“Between August 2023 and June 2025, the suspect (allegedly) harassed the victim on many occasions
the suspect and the victim are known to each other,” said a police statement.

Woman allegedly found with drugs after located in stolen pickup truck: Cops

A 30-year-old Oshawa woman faces a slew of charges after police allegedly spotted her getting out of a stolen pickup truck.

Durham Regional Police said Monday that officers spotted a stolen pickup truck in Oshawa’s Albany-Front Sts. area last Thursday.

“A female got out the vehicle and went to a store where she got clothing in an attempt to change her appearance,” police alleged in a statement.

Officers alleged she was in possession of drugs, including more than 60 grams of crystal meth, and that they also found stolen identification and bank cards.

April Lessard faces 66 charges, including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen credit cards and failing to comply with a probation order. She was held for a bail hearing.
