‘High quality”: Travellers to Bali face strict new rules in tourism push

Australian travelers heading for a Bali getaway may soon have to declare their personal bank account information to enter the country.
The major change, flagged by the Bali Provincial Government, will require travelers to declare their bank account activity for the three months prior to their arrival to enter the island paradise.
This includes checking bank statements and bank balances.
This change has been touted as a potential way to increase “high-quality tourism” to the Indonesian province.
Officials from the Bali provincial government want to take tough action against badly behaved passengers after a number of incidents in recent years.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster said a proposal to the government was “almost complete” and could be presented this year.
The new measure is not the first major change introduced to tourists traveling to Bali.

Last year, Governor Koster issued a long list of regulations that tourists must follow.
These included paying a tourist tax and common sense rules such as dressing appropriately and being respectful of local cultural sites and people.
Smartraveller warns Australians that “bad behavior that disrespects local culture or religion can get you in trouble and even get you deported.”
