Multiple courts in Mumbai, including the Bombay High Court, received bomb threats via email on Thursday, December 18, 2025, prompting evacuations and security checks. Magistrate courts in Bandra, Andheri and Esplanade were among those targeted.
Bomb disposal teams and security forces conducted a comprehensive investigation at the scene. Mumbai Police confirmed that threatening messages were sent to various courts and banks. Police said all locations have since been checked and declared safe.
Hearings at the Supreme Court have been temporarily suspended and are expected to resume at 15:00 after approval.
An internal memorandum issued on the Chief Justice’s orders told the judges to leave their benches while the bomb squad took necessary precautions.
