Donald Trump Calls Upcoming Supreme Court Tariff Case One Of The Most Important In US History’

US President Donald Trump described the Supreme Court’s case regarding customs duties as one of the most important cases in American history and said that the decision will determine the economic strength and security of the country.

Supreme court justices will hear the case on November 5.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Next week’s Tariff Case is one of the most important cases in the Nation’s History. If a President is not allowed to use Tariffs, we will be at a huge disadvantage to every other Country in the World, especially the ‘Majors’. We would be literally defenseless!”

During his presidency, Trump said tariffs contributed to “Great Wealth and National Security.”

“The stock market has reached all-time highs multiple times during my short time in office, there is virtually no inflation, and national security is second to none,” he added.

He cited recent U.S. trade negotiations with China and other countries as examples of how tariff leverage leads to “fair and sustainable deals.”

Claiming that the opposition comes from “foreign countries that have taken advantage of us for years, from those who hate our Country, and from Democrats because our numbers are insurmountably good,” Trump said, “Unless a President can use the power of Tariffs quickly and nimbly, we remain defenseless, perhaps even leading to the destruction of our Nation.” he wrote.

Trump stated that he will not attend the Supreme Court session in person and said, “I will not go to the Court on Wednesday because I do not want to distract from the importance of this Decision.”

He wrote: “I think this will be one of the most important and consequential Decisions ever handed down by the Supreme Court of the United States. If we win, we will be by far the Richest, Safest Country anywhere in the world. If we lose, our Country could be reduced to almost Third World status – pray to God that this does not happen!”

According to a report by CNN, the case will address whether Trump has the legal authority to impose tariffs by citing a law known as the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

Trump used these powers to raise import duties to 50% in major trading partners such as India and Brazil, and as high as 145% in China.

A ruling against the president would not mean an immediate cancellation of all applicable tariffs, but the outcome could radically reshape Trump’s economic strategy, CNN reported.

According to CNN, data from US Customs and Border Protection shows that as of September 23, American companies had paid almost $90 billion in controversial IEEPA tariffs; That’s more than half of all tariff revenue collected in fiscal year 2025, which closes Sept. 30.
