President says he has a buyer for popular app

President Donald Trump, claiming that he had a national security risk, he said he was a buyer for Tiktok, a banned video sharing application in the United States.

In a FOX News interview, Trump said a group of “very rich people” who wanted to acquire the platform. “I will tell you in about two weeks,” he mocked.

A sale will need the Chinese government’s approval, but Trump said to Trump Fox that President Xi Jinping would “probably do it”.

This month Trump postponed the implementation of a law that required the sale of Tiktok for the third time.

The last extension requires the parent company to reach an agreement to sell the platform of the Baytans until September 17th.

BBC contacted Tiktok for comment.

A previous agreement to sell Tiktok to an American recipient was dispersed in April that the White House clashed with China through Trump’s tariffs.

It is not clear whether the current buyer is in line with Trump and is the same as what was waiting on the wings three months ago.

The US Congress issued a law that forced Tiktok’s sale in April last year, and the MPs are afraid that the application or the parent company could deliver the US user data to the Chinese government rejected by Tiktok.

Trump criticized the application in the first period, but he came to see it as a factor in the 2024 election win and now supports his ongoing use in the USA.

The law had to come into force on 19 January, but Trump repeatedly delayed the implementation of criticism through movements to invalidate Congress MPs through executive actions.

Tiktok challenged the constitution, but lost his objection to the US Supreme Court.
