Steak ‘n Shake offers Bitcoin bonus to workers in fast-food industry first

Steak ‘n Shake says it will give Bitcoin bonuses to hourly employees; A move that the fast-food chain claimed was a first in the industry and received strong reactions online.
The company announced its plans in an X post on Sunday.
“Starting March 1, ALL hourly workers will earn a 21 cents per hour Bitcoin bonus!” The article was read.
The chain added that it will also contribute $1,000 to Trump Accounts that will be opened on July 4.
Trump Accounts, passed last year with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), will provide $1,000 to every American child born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028.

“We aim to be a Maximum Wage Employer in our respective communities,” Steak ‘n Shake’s post said.
“We try to pay the best to get the best so we can give the best!”
The chain added: “We take care of our people, they take care of our customers, and the results take care of themselves!”
Fox News Digital has reached out to Steak ‘n Shake for comment.

The announcement received praise from fans at X.
“Wow! Thank you so much,” wrote Virginia-based conservative activist Scott Presler.
“This is the way. Good job guys!”
“This is great! BTW, so are your burgers!” another commentator chimed in.

But some other commentators were skeptical.

“This seems more like a publicity stunt than anything that will actually help,” one X user wrote. “An extra six dollars a week, people! You can afford a cheeseburger.”
“The fact that you even post about a $0.21/hour increase is insulting,” another critic said. “By the way, your burgers suck.”

This latest move is one of many big changes Steak ‘n Shake has made in the past year.
Just last month, the chain announced it would remove microwave ovens from its restaurants in an effort to “improve food quality and use only traditional cooking methods.”

Months ago, numerous Steak ‘n Shake restaurants began displaying giant American flags as an act of patriotism.
The company said it was the “tallest and largest American flag” on display[s] Local governments will allow this.”
