Firing Heard Outside Banaras Hindu University Hostel
Varanasi: Gunshots were heard outside a hostel at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), authorities claimed on Sunday. No one was injured in the incident. BA 3rd year student Roshan Mishra claimed that while he was standing outside the hostel, three youths on a motorcycle came and suddenly opened fire in the air.
It was stated that the police launched an investigation against the 3 people allegedly involved in the incident, and efforts are continuing to capture them.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Vaibhav Banker, ACP, Bhelupur said that he received information about the firing in BHU around 9.30 pm.
Police force from several stations and the police station in charge immediately rushed to the scene.
“Police investigated the scene and accepted the formal complaint from the students. Based on the complaint, an FIR was initiated against the accused,” the ADCP said.
After the incident, students took empty cartridges from the scene and handed them over to the police.
