Queues, crowds and excitement as Glastonbury Festival 2025 begins

Gates officially opened for the 2025 Glastonbury Festival after thousands of people poured into a valuable farm.
Founding partner, Sir Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily Eavis, who now run the festival, directed the countdown shortly after 08:00 BST.
Before the main festival program on Friday, more than 200,000 people will go to the site in the coming days.
Speaking shortly before the doors opened, Mrs. Eavis told the BBC: “This year, such an accumulation, there was an incredible amount of excitement.”

Eavis said: “We all look forward to opening the doors and being able to do it with my father.
He continued: “The best moment to allow them all and a very cheerful city in England for the next five days.”
Hundreds of people arrived on Tuesday night, sleeping under the stars to be on the first site.
Among them, 31 -year -old James Trusson, Ash, Somperset, Grace Ball, 29 -year -old Bournemouth and Dan Mortimore, Somperset, Compton Dundon’dan in front of the line for the second year.

Ms. Ball, who brought them to a prime position for the best camp point, said that their plans for the rest of the day were “going back to the car for snacks and then sleeping.”
“I think I’m gonna break a beer,” Mr. Tusson added.
Hundreds of people contacted with the BBC traveling photos and stories of traveling to the festival – this is the Cary Castle, a long coach journey or a train by bike.

In addition to the expected traffic in the A361 between Glastonbury and Worthy Farm, the main travel roads of the festival remained relatively open throughout the day.
