Not Sholay, Mughal-E-Azam, Baahubali, but Dhurandhar creates history by breaking THIS record, Ranveer Singh’s film is first in Indian cinema to…

Dhurandhar closed 2025 with a bang and even on the last day of the year, the film clocked double digits. The film will continue its dominance in 2026 and has already set a record that even the biggest blockbusters of Indian films cannot match.

Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar

The year 2025 belongs to Dhurandhar. Akshaye Khanna starrer Ranveer Singh, which released in theaters on December 5, broke many records, set new benchmarks and created history. The film ended 2025 on a high note on December 31st. The film earned Rs 12.40 billion on its fourth Wednesday, its 27th day, taking the total domestic collection to Rs 766.90 Million. Looking at the worldwide gross revenue, Dhurandhar has earned Rs 1117.90 crore and it is expected to cross the Rs 1200 crore mark soon.

Starting January 1, Agastya Nanda’s war drama Ikkis, starring Arun Khetrapal and Dharmendra in their last big screen appearance, was released in theatres. This film will slow down Dhurandhar for a while, but it will continue its strong hold until Border 2 releases (on January 23).

Dhruandhar set THIS milestone that Sholay or any other all-time blockbuster failed to achieve

As Sacnilk reports, director Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar continues to set new benchmarks for Hindi cinema with a lifetime of theatrical work. After crossing Rs 1000 billion worldwide, the spy action thriller has now become the highest-grossing Indian title of all time in a single language.

The Ranveer Singh starrer is the only non-multilingual Hindi film to enter the 1000 crore mark (excluding China). However, before Dhurandhar, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 and Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan became the top grossers in a single language, crossing Rs 1050 crore each in the Hindi version at the worldwide box office.

No other Bollywood film including Sholay, Mughal-E-Azam, Disco Dancer, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Gadar or the Baahubali series has achieved such a milestone. Dhurandhar is not just a blockbuster but also a case study in itself.

Dhurandhar Part 2 grows

Due to the huge success of Dhurandhar, the makers planned to go even bigger with the sequel. Dhurandhar Part 2 will release theatrically on March 19, 2026 in five languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
