FIRST ON FOX — Two federal inmates previously sentenced to death row — one a crooked New Orleans cop, the other the man behind a multi-state murder spree — have been transferred to a notorious “supermax” prison in Colorado, the Justice Department told Fox News Digital.

News of their transfers comes as U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is trying to crack down on the previous administration’s sweeping amnesty measures, especially for violent crimes.

Former death row inmates were transferred Thursday to the U.S. Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility, also known as “ADX,” in Florence, Colorado, Justice Department officials confirmed.

They are among 37 death row inmates whose sentences Biden commuted shortly before leaving office last December. The news sparked criticism and complaints that the record pardons and commutations were made as a political “Hail Mary” and without proper review.

Eight death row inmates have already been transferred to ADX, bringing to 10 the number of death row inmates transferred to the facility since mid-September, the Department of Justice said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

More are expected to arrive soon, as all 37 death row inmates commuted by Biden are expected to be moved to the facility “early next year,” the Justice Department told Fox News Digital.

This effort was made by Bondi and Trump administration They have sought to reverse some of the Biden administration’s efforts at criminal justice reform with an emphasis on violent crime prevention.

Justice Department officials told Fox News Digital that the sentence reductions cannot be fully reversed. According to an earlier Justice Department memo, Bondi, in coordination with Trump’s directives, prioritized ways to punish these individuals and ensure that their “conditions of incarceration” are “consistent with the present security risks of the inmates due to their egregious crimes, criminal history, and all other relevant considerations.”

“Two more monsters who planned and brutally murdered innocent people will spend the rest of their lives in our nation’s harshest federal prison,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement to Fox News Digital. he said.

“This Justice Department will continue to demand accountability for families who were blindsided by President Biden’s reckless replacement of 37 wild predators,” he added.

Like eight former death row inmates sent to Colorado’s supermax prison, two criminals processed at ADX on Thursday were convicted of particularly heinous crimes.

A man followed his ex-girlfriend from Roanoke, Virginia, to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he cut off the phone lines to her apartment and then used canisters of gasoline to set the building on fire.

Although she escaped through a second-story window and was hospitalized for second- and third-degree burns, he tracked her down to her parents’ home in Virginia two months later, where he shot and killed her on the streets of her neighborhood, just feet away from her mother.

Another inmate, a former New Orleans police officer nicknamed “Robocop” for his massive physical demeanor and aggressive law enforcement style, was caught by the FBI ordering and planning the murder of a mother of three who had arrived at the station hours earlier to supposedly file an undercover brutality complaint about behavior she witnessed on her way home the night before.

The FBI had stumbled upon the conversation as part of a broader investigation into an alleged “protection racket” between cocaine dealers in New Orleans and the city’s police force guarding a warehouse full of drugs. The same officer was later revealed to be one of the main conspirators in the protection racket.

He has also since been revealed to have given false testimony in two murder cases, including one to which he has been linked. These statements were used to exonerate four men from prison, including three teenagers who were wrongfully convicted of a murder 28 years ago.

ADX is the only true federal “supermax” prison in the United States, and its inmates are as notorious as the prison’s reputation.

These include Ramzi Yousef, who was convicted of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the Boston Marathon bombers; former Sinola Cartel leader Joaquín Guzmán or “El Chapo”; and Mamduh Mahmud Salim, co-founder of Al Qaeda.

Shortly after his confirmation as attorney general, Bondi issued a statement aimed at “restoring some measure of justice” to the victims’ families.

Biden’s actions drew more criticism from former President Barack Obama: As Fox News reported at the time, the vast majority of Obama’s clemency actions focused on commuting the sentences of federal prisoners who met certain criteria outlined below. administration’s Compassion Initiative.

The Justice Department said Bondi hosted victims’ families earlier this year and listened to their concerns about the crossings. Some said they were stunned by the eleventh-hour change and that they were not notified in advance by the Biden administration.
