Centre approves ₹10,637-crore road, tunnel projects for Kashmir

On Monday, June 23, 2025, the center approved 19 roads and tunnel projects worth 10,637 Crore for Jammu and Kashmir. These projects will interrupt the travel time and provide all kinds of weather access to several pockets of the border areas near the control line (Loc).

Authorities, Union Highway Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari’nin J & K 296 km road and tunnel to build 19 mega projects, he said.

The 3,830-Crore-worth peer-Ki-Gali Tunnel will provide an alternative weather connection between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of the country. Sadhana tunnel that will cost 3.330-CRORE. It will provide access to the Karnah Region near Loc for years. “Many strategically important projects will increase logistics support and unity mobility. Projects will improve the infrastructure in the Union region and connect various touristic places. The construction of tunnels will reduce travel time, will provide all kinds of weather connection and encourage economic growth.

Other approved projects, Zaznar Shopian section for 852-Crore; A four -lane overpass from Lal Chowk to Parimpora for 700 Crore; 966 Trehgam-Chamkote section for Crore; 445 A four-lane magam in the Narbal-Gulmarg section for Crore; 95 Qazigund Baypas for Crore; And a two -lane bridge on Rambiara in Shopian for 71 Crore.

Mr. Sinha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr. Gadkari for approved the projects.

Great success

J & K Prime Minister Omar Abdullah described the approval of the Abdullah as a great success for the government ”.

“I am grateful to PM Modi and Gadkari Ji for his continuous support,” Abdullah said, “While trying to direct J & K to the path of progress, development and connection.”

A NC spokesman said that the J&B government, led by CM, successfully convinced the Indian Government to address the key infrastructure projects such as Babür Road Tunnel and Tunnel Tangdhar. NC said, “These are important achievements that will benefit our people.”

The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), headed by Deputy Engineer Rashid, thanked the PM Modi and Mr. Gadkari for approved the highly anticipated Sadhana tunnel.

AIP spokesman Inamul Haq said that the engineer Rashid “fruits ında at his meeting with the Minister of Union Nitin Gadkari during the winter session of Parliament. Mr. Rashid, who represents Baramulla, is currently in prison.
