United States wins its most Winter Olympic gold medals ever

The United States made Olympic history.
The Americans won their 11th gold medal on Saturday, setting a new record for the most gold medals in the country’s Winter Olympic history.
The record-breaking medal was won by the mixed aerial team of Chris Lillis, Connor Curran and Kaila Kuhn.

The previous record was 10 at the 2002 Games played on home soil in Salt Lake City.
Individual gold winners include the aforementioned Stolz, Breezy Johnson (alpine skiing, women’s downhill), Elizabeth Lawley (freestyle skiing, women’s moguls), Elana Meyers Taylor (women’s monobob), Mikaela Shiffrin (alpine skiing, women’s slalom), Alex Ferreira (men’s freestyle halfpipe skiing) and Alysa Liu, who won the United States’ first women’s singles gold medal. I’ve been ice skating since 2002.

TEAM USA WILL FIGHT CANADA FOR OLYMPIC GOLD AFTER DOMINANT PERFORMANCE AGAINST SLOVAKIA
Overall victories include three in freestyle skiing, two in speed skating (both Jordan Stolz), one each in alpine skiing and figure skating, and one each in bobsled and women’s ice hockey from a thrilling comeback and overtime victory over arch-rival Canada.
The Americans have 31 total medals, 12 silver and 8 bronze, and there are a few more opportunities before the Games end on Sunday.
The men’s hockey team will advance to the gold medal game against Canada on the final day of the games, which also marks the 46th anniversary of the “Miracle on Ice.”

Before the hockey game, the United States will also be able to win medals in the four-man mixed luge, women’s 50-kilometer cross-country skiing and women’s halfpipe freestyle skiing.
Norway is the leader with 40 medals and 18 gold.
