Police in CCTV appeal after ‘unprovoked attack’ leaves woman with hair torn out | UK | News

Police have appealed against CCTV following an alleged attack in England city centre. Merseyside Police confirmed they received reports of an incident in the early hours of Sunday, September 7, where a woman was allegedly assaulted outside the Baa Bar on Fleet Street at around 1.30am.
Police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notice, and security measures were taken in the region within the scope of the intervention. Support was provided to the woman involved and police began collecting evidence, including witness statements and CCTV footage from the busy nightlife area, to establish the circumstances of the attack. The investigation is ongoing and authorities have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward with information that could assist their investigation.
Following the attack, police conducted extensive CCTV reviews and interviewed witnesses in the area as part of the investigation. Officers arrested a 23-year-old woman from Kirkby on suspicion of assault; He has since been released on bail with conditions.
Police said detectives have released additional CCTV footage of another woman they wish to identify and speak to and believe she may contain information that could help further their investigation.
Detective Sergeant Lee Hearne said: “This was a serious and unprovoked attack on a young woman who was out with friends in our town centre.
“Everyone should be able to go out and feel safe in their community without fear of being attacked, and we are working to find those responsible.
“I would urge the woman shown in this CCTV footage, or anyone who recognizes her, to come forward as we believe they may have information that could be vital to our ongoing investigations.
“Similarly, if you were in Baa Barr in the early hours of Sunday morning and saw the attack, or those involved, please contact the police as soon as possible.
“Although it has been several weeks since the incident, any information you have could be vital to our investigations.”
