The Dubbing Artists’ Association of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has accepted the resignation of senior dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi, who left the body on December 9, 2025, in protest against the federation’s move to reinstate actor Dileep after he was acquitted by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court in the actor rape case.

In a letter sent to him, union president Shoby Thilakan said the board accepted his resignation “with pain”.

“He was the pride of the union. His resignation was accepted because he remained loyal to his decision to leave,” he said. As a member of the executive committee, he has been at the forefront of the union since its inception. He said that he has been working for the welfare of his members so far.

Ms. Bhagyalakshmi had alleged that FEFKA had failed to stand by the survivor. He had said that film establishments were “very quick” to initiate steps to reinstate Mr. Dileep as such discussions started soon after the court acquitted him. “This made it clear that these organizations would never stand with survivors,” he claimed.

He had said that his long-standing stand with the survivors would be termed “empty” if he did not resign in protest against the move by film organisations, including FEFKA, to reinstate Dileep. He also accused the federation’s leadership of “not trying to understand the pain” experienced by the victim. “They never tried to talk to him or comfort him,” he claimed.

He was referring to the discussions initiated by FEFKA, Malayalam Film Artistes Association (AMMA) and Kerala Film Producers Association to reinstate Mr. Dileep, who was acquitted in the case.
