In a horrific incident, a woman was allegedly dragged from her kitchen, gagged, tied up and gang raped. Two men were arrested in Bangladesh’s Sirab district.

The two men were detained during a police operation on June 12, Dhaka Tribune reported. Police said the woman lived in a rented house in the Sirab area with her children and husband.

At around 5.30pm on June 10, she was working in her kitchen when men allegedly gagged her, threatened her children and then took her to a room on the ground floor of a nearby building.

The victim told the police that she was tied up and raped before returning home and told the incident to her husband.

He then lodged a report at Sonargaon Police Station, directing officers to initiate an investigation.

Officer in charge of the police station, Golam Sarwar, said that the police immediately started the operation after receiving the notice.

It was understood that an investigation had been launched to capture the remaining suspects.

The scare comes shortly after it was reported that a seven-year-old girl was raped in a separate incident in a different district of Bangladesh.

According to the Express, two young men were arrested following the alleged attack.

It was reported that the suspects kidnapped the girl from her home on June 4, locked her in a public toilet and raped her.

Meanwhile, six men were arrested following the alleged rape that took place in Cox’s Bazar in southeastern Bangladesh on June 8. A woman and her teenage daughter were gang-raped after intruders cut through the window grill of their home, police said.
