Yamuna river water level nears evacuation mark in Delhi on august 19 2025

Delhi’s water level on the Yamuna River on the Old Railway Bridge reached 205.79 meters, which was slightly shorter than the 206 meter evacuation level on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
The water level in the river touched 205.55 meters on Monday, August 18, 2025, violated the danger sign of 205.33 meters and has been increasing since then.
Authorities, the situation is closely monitored and all relevant institutions were asked to take precautionary measures to address flood -like situation.

Prime Minister Rekha Gupta will visit low areas throughout the river to review the flood preparation measures.
“Yamuna water level is mostly released from Wazirabad and is increasing due to high -volume water and Hathnikund barga.” He said.
According to the flood control department, the Hathnikund dam releases approximately 38,361 Cusec Su and Wazirabad 68.230 Cusec every hour.
The old railway bridge serves as an important observation point to monitor the flow of the river and potential flood risks.
The warning sign for the city starts at 204.50 meters, the danger sign is 205.33 meters and the release starts at 206 meters.
It usually takes 48 to 50 hours to reach Delhi. Even lower discharges than the up flow raises the water level that approaches the warning sign in Delhi.
