A teenager has suffered life-threatening injuries after he was allegedly stabbed by another student at a Brisbane high school.
The alleged altercation took place at around 11.45am on Tuesday at the Brisbane Islamic College in Karawatha, south of Brisbane.
A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment for what Queensland police described as “life-threatening injuries”.
A spokesman for Princess Alexandra hospital said on Tuesday afternoon that the child was in a stable condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Police arrested a 16-year-old boy on Tuesday afternoon and said he was assisting officers with investigations. No charges were made.
A police spokesman said it was believed the boys knew each other.
“Officers are currently patrolling the immediate area and are urging anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact police,” the spokesman said.
This is the second school stabbing in Queensland this week. In a separate incident, police charged a 15-year-old boy from Kanimbla in northern Queensland for allegedly stabbing another boy at a Cairns school on Monday.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with a number of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail on Monday and was due to appear in Cairns children’s court on Tuesday.
