Shopping online at work is not a sackable offence, judge rules

A judge decided.
A court found that an accounting manager was “not excessive” to screening sites, including Amazon and Rightmove.
The woman, called a Lanuszka in the decision, was fired in July 2023 after using spyware to monitor the computer of the Employer Accounting MK services.
For two days, the business owner Kraze claimed that Mrs. Lanuszka spent an hour 24 minutes on personal issues.
Miss Lanuszka, who acknowledged that he visited the websites Rightmove, claimed that he was allowed to use the computer for personal issues.
Employment judge Michael Magree decided that the “great rate” of the time emphasized as personal use was used for business purposes, including planning, excel and presentation skill training.
Ms. Lanuszka added that “no underlying performance concerns or warning ve and said that the date of dismissal was overlapping Kraze’s sister’s arrival in England.
“Considering that the use of personal computer and MS Lanuszka was not shown to be excessive when it was divided into personal issues for two days, there was no interruption for the error of contributing,” Magee wrote.
“The court concludes that there were no reasonable reasons to support the conclusion that Ms. Lanuszka is guilty of abuse. A reasonable investigation was also conducted.”
According to the decision made in Bury St Edmunds in June, Mrs. Lanuszka started to work for Mrs. Krauze under the name of a separate company terminated in 2021 before a new company was established.
Ms. Krauze rejected Mrs. Lanuszka in 2023, believing that she would not be dismissed unjustly because she did not work for the new company for two years.
Ms. Lanuszka has been awarded more than £ 14,000 in compensation and expense.
