WA Police charge Eric Ronald Riley with murder of baby following ‘incident’ at Innaloo

An eight-week-old baby died in hospital and a man accused of murder also died following an incident at a Perth home three weeks ago.

On Monday, WA Police revealed the investigation by the Homicide and Child Exploitation squad had been ongoing since May 2, when officers were called to an incident at an Innaloo address where a child was seriously injured.

The baby died over the weekend.

The 23-year-old man accused of killing the baby has been identified as Eric Ronald Riley.

Mr Riley appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on Monday and put his head in his hands during the hearing.

Many grieving family members attended the hearing.

Mr Riley was remanded in custody and will remain in prison until he appears at Stirling Gardens Magistrates’ Court on June 24.
