Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist, recently became mayor of New York City. He mobilized the working class on material issues like the cost of living, housing, and wealth inequalities, and overcame opposition from “old school” Democratic elites to show the party how to really scare Donald Trump.
Will Mamdani’s victory inspire (or compel) Democrats to step up the fight against Trump? So how does the Australian left plan to implement Mamdani’s campaign tactics over the next 12 months?
