27-year-old woman shot and killed by police was armed, suffered multiple gunshot wounds

New Hampshire Attorney General releases new details about officer-involved shooting Early this morning in Northfield.

At approximately 12:12 a.m. Monday, police received a call from an apartment on Vine Street for a report of a domestic disturbance in which an adult female resident struck another with a fire extinguisher.

The caller told 911 that 27-year-old Megan Whiting had hit the caller’s girlfriend, broken objects, broken a window, and told police to hurry.

When officers arrived on scene, they allegedly witnessed Whiting armed with a knife near the injured female resident.

Police instructed Whiting to drop the knife, and an officer eventually discharged his firearm and Whiting was struck by the weapon.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Whiting’s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was determined to be homicide.

According to protocol, the names of the police officers involved in the incident are kept secret until the completion of official negotiations. One of the first responding officers had a body camera.
