The dispute intensified following ACT Premier Andrew Barr’s official meeting with NSW Premier Chris Minns. Mr Barr said the ACT would halt future water service expansions to regional NSW towns including Yass, Murrumbateman and Bungendore unless NSW transferred 1000 hectares of land known as Parkwood to the region. The regional leadership argues that it has no legal obligation to supply water across borders without receiving mutual structural benefits.
