Six Nations 2026: France v England finale worthy of greatest ever Six Nations

The tournament began with Italy shocking Scotland in Rome, putting Gregor Townsend under pressure.
His side then defeated England at Murrayfield to end their opponents’ 12-match unbeaten run.
The pressure then increased on Borthwick when he was outplayed by Ireland at the Allianz Stadium.
While all this was going on, France had surpassed Ireland, Wales and Italy to begin a narrative of failure in all but the Grand Slam.
Scotland then blew out Galthie’s side and then conceded a string of tries to head into the final round with a genuine shot at claiming their first Six Nations title.
To add more drama to the mix, Italy defeated England in Rome to put more pressure on Borthwick.
Wales may have lost their first four games, but they improved as the championship went on and ended the tournament with an impressive bonus point win against Italy.
They finished with the Wooden Spoon for the third year in a row, but winning the championship for the first time since 2023 was a huge relief.
Despite a good performance in Paris, England finished the tournament with four defeats, their worst ever season.
BBC rugby correspondent Chris Jones said: “It was one of the most fascinating Six Nations in history and it amounted to a final moment of drama.”
The 2015 Six Nations was considered the biggest tournament in terms of entertainment due to the three-team Super Saturday title race.
Similarly, it went directly towards the wire.
But this year’s competition goes from round one to the final kick, with each country having its own story and definitely rising to the top of the list.
