Harry’s bad news lands at wrong time, but prince sticks to script

It’s been a bleak week for the prince, and today that sense of chaos has only increased.

This was a trip during which he had to be accompanied by his wife, Meghan, and their children. At least at the start of the visit, this appeared to have been disrupted by an argument over security.

The Duke appeared to be hoping to stay at Buckingham Palace. But the argument over his accommodation was a disaster for everyone, and he was publicly unable to stay there.

This led his team to ask if there was actually a way to host a person for one night.

This court defeat is one challenge in Prince Harry’s long campaign against what he sees as the unjust excesses of the press.

This is clearly a deeply personal reason. He opposed press interventions that he saw as damaging and damaged his private life and relationships.

It’s a really deep wound. A story that goes back to the treatment of his mother, Princess Diana.

But this campaign against the tabloids, especially the Mirror group, looks set to come to an end.

It is not yet clear whether the group of seven plaintiffs, all of whom lost, will appeal the ANL outcome. But there doesn’t seem to be any plans for new cases.

This week will raise big questions about what happens next for Prince Harry.

Maybe this was a cautionary tale.

He is back in England to promote the Invictus Games in Birmingham next year.

But questions remain about her relationship with other royals and her father, King King III. It’s about whether or not she’ll ever meet Charles.

They will probably meet. And his wife, Meghan, may arrive in the UK this week, surrounded by the media circus that will inevitably accompany the moment.

In another bit of timing, food brand As Ever sent out an advertising email titled “Back to raspberries” on Tuesday afternoon.

Was this sending a message?

The Duke is unlikely to see his brother Prince William, who is engaged in an engagement of his own about 10 miles away but could also be on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Relations with the Palace must have hit rock bottom after the pointless war of words over whether he would stay at Buckingham Palace. Trust must be insufficient.

But none of that is what Prince Harry wants to talk about this week.

At this Invictus meeting, in a room full of military uniforms, there were inspiring stories of resilience in the face of adversity.

There were international representatives there, including from Ukraine.

Prince Harry’s speech for Invictus may have been about something closer to home.

He called for: “A spark that can ignite healing, rebuild trust and reconnect people with a community that understands them.”

But even though Prince Harry stuck to the script, things had other ideas.
