Rising heat takes toll on bird diversity in Kottayam, finds survey

Rising summer temperatures appear to be harming the bird life of Kottayam city; A recent study reveals a sharp decline in urban bird diversity this year.

In the study carried out under the leadership of the Institute of Tropical Ecological Sciences (TIES) with the participation of bird watchers, experts and young naturalists, only 31 bird species were recorded this year, compared to 47 species detected last year.
