Trump ‘wanted to say even crazier s***’ during election fraud speech as GOP insiders knife ‘loser’ president

Republicans were shaken after Donald Trump’s first speech claiming that China had undertaken the largest election interference plot in US history.

The president accused China-backed groups of infiltrating 220 million Americans with a “data exploitation unit” and called the incident an “unprecedented election security nightmare.”

The White House update, broadcast on national television, sparked controversy among major US broadcasters. Fox News covered these statements live and noted that it could not independently verify the President’s claims; CNN, NBC, ABC and others did not broadcast this address.

Before the speech, Republican lawmakers worried that the controversial remarks would rekindle the painful period surrounding the 2020 election, when the President’s allegations eroded support among GOP voters.

“President Trump may have mobilized supporters who already agree with him, but revisiting the 2020 election is unlikely to expand the Republican coalition heading into the midterms,” said Brittany Martinez, a political strategist and aide to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

‘American families are focusing on affordability and the future rather than relitigating an election that has already been widely litigated in the courts and contested in the political arena.’

Trump critic and Republican Congressman Thomas Massie questioned why the President would criticize the election after the GOP wins overall in 2024.

“I don’t think the problem is that our elections are not secure because we control the House of Representatives, the Senate, the White House, and to some extent the Supreme Court,” he said on MS NOW. “Why are you complaining about election fraud? We won all the damn elections!”

Even within Trump’s own White House, there were concerns about the closely guarded speech, whose content could not be previewed by the administration other than promises that it would revolve at least in part around U.S. election security.

‘There would be much crazier things to say,’ they added.

Democrats have attacked the President for revisiting the 2020 election, which he still claims he won despite no evidence supporting his claim.

“Frankly, Donald Trump is a loser,” former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.

One GOP strategist told NOTUS that the speech sounded like it came from ‘someone who thinks he’s going to lose in November.’

The backdrop of the speech was Trump’s pressure from Senate Republicans to pass the Save America Act, which would overhaul American elections by requiring voter ID and voter roll reviews.

The bill passed the House but remained in the Senate because Republicans lacked the 60 votes needed to pass it.

“U.S. spy agencies began learning about voter registration files being compromised in 2020 when they discovered that tens of millions of voter data, think about it, tens of millions of voter data across 18 states had been purchased, stolen or hacked by China,” Trump said. Trump has advised Senate GOP leadership to find every possible way to push the legislation through, and discussions are ongoing on how best to do so ahead of the midterms.

If the bill passes before the November election, Republicans hope their electoral chances will improve because of the bill’s election security measures. Critics say the bill prevents some qualified voters from voting.

Senate Republican Leader John Thune stated before the speech that the only election he was thinking about was the upcoming midterm elections.

‘I don’t know what Trump will say. But all I can tell you is that we are focused on the 2026 election, at least I am and I think most of my colleagues are too.’

Referring to newly declassified files on Thursday night, Trump said some of the documents revealed that ‘deep state members’ were working to ‘actively suppress and downplay information about the extent of China’s sinister role in the election’.

Despite all the accusations against China, the President did not threaten any consequences. Xi Jinping and his wife are scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C., for an official visit in September, following Trump’s visit to China in May.

Referring to another newly declassified CIA report, Trump said Nicolas Maduro’s regime has developed methods to digitally manipulate vote totals so that they cannot be detected even by an audit, no matter how deep they go.’

The 2021 report also claims that although the former Venezuelan dictator may have wanted to influence US public opinion against Trump in 2020, he lacked the ability to do so.
