From the NDIS to the gas tax, Albanese can’t restore trust like this

You have to go back a bit to find deeper hypocrisy than Labor’s changes to the NDIS: by cutting funding and implementing an objective review process, Labor is making the changes it brutally demonized when the Morrison government proposed them. For sheer chutzpah, you’ll probably have to go back to Tony Abbott pursuing the same indexation of middle-class benefits that Labor condemned as “class warfare” three years ago when it did so.

Day-to-day politics aside, changes to the NDIS form part of a much larger historical shift; Here governments at all levels and on both sides are having to find their way to taking on a much larger role in care than we have become accustomed to in the 20th century.
