Madeleine McCann UPDATES: Kate McCann to face woman who ‘pretended to | UK | News

Earlier this week the court was told Julia Wandelt claimed in a message to Kate McCann that she remembered the night Madeleine was kidnapped: “I remember you coming into my room before I was kidnapped, rubbing my head and saying ‘I love you and I will find you’.”
In a voicemail left for Kate McCann, Wandelt pleaded for a DNA test and said: “You have nothing to lose, if it’s me then everyone should be fine but if I’m not, as you probably think, then I’ll leave you alone.”
Wandelt signed the letter, which was delivered to the McCanns’ home, as “Madeleine” and wrote: “Dear mother (Kate), I am so sorry to have caused you so much trouble. I felt a connection with you. I don’t like to see you upset. All I want is to find the truth. I heard so much care and love in your voice yesterday.”
Wandelt claimed her identity in an email to Gerry McCann, saying, “In June 2022, I started thinking I was Madeleine McCann. I’m not kidding.”
During the trial, prosecutors cited another voicemail in which Wandelt described a false memory, claiming Kate McCann had put “pink shoes” on her feet as a child.
