BJP Slams Rahul for Saying PM Modi Will Be out of Power in a Year

New Delhi: The BJP on Thursday hit back by accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of spreading propaganda over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that he will not be in office within a year.

The ruling party also noted that the only Emergency imposed in the country was by former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi, on Wednesday claimed that Modi will not become the prime minister within a year because “the system he once controlled is now shaken and has collapsed from within”.

He also claimed that the Modi government may try to quell public pressure and impose something like an Emergency.

Reacting strongly to these statements, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that Gandhi’s comments reflected the Congress party’s own history and mentality.

“Rahul Gandhi Has a History of Emergency Situations in His Family”

“Rahul Gandhi comes from a family with a history of Emergency. That is why he believes everyone is trying to impose Emergency. The Constitution has been violated only once in India and that was by Indira Gandhi. The way she undermines and interferes with constitutional institutions is well known,” Poonawalla said in a video statement. he said.

The real “emergency” lies within the Congress party, the BJP spokesperson claimed.

“Rahul Gandhi, who puts dynastic rule above democracy, continues to see Emergency everywhere even today. There is some kind of emergency, but within the Congress. There is institutional collapse and rebellion within the Congress. There is systemic collapse, but it exists in the Congress party,” he said.

Claiming that Congress leaders are quitting the party one after another, Poonawalla said the opposition party is “facing a rebellion” against dynastic politics.

“After losing 99 elections, the Congress establishment is now rebelling against dynastic politics. That is why Congress leaders are leaving the party one by one. They are rebelling against you,” he said.

The BJP spokesperson also accused Gandhi of making repeated allegations against India’s institutions and damaging the country’s image abroad.

“LoP – Leader of Propaganda”

“But you are the LoP; the leader of propaganda. Spreading lies, creating panic and profiteering; this is your model,” he accused.

“You are speaking against India’s democratic institutions abroad. If anyone is on the agenda of defaming India internationally, it is you,” he added.

Poonawalla alleged that Gandhi had previously made misleading statements on various issues, from the economy to Covid vaccines and national security issues.

“You have repeatedly said that the economy is dead, when India is the fastest growing major economy. You spread misinformation about India’s vaccines so that foreign vaccines can be sold.”

“By speaking out against Operation Sindoor and India’s actions in Galwan, you are weakening the morale of the Indian armed forces. Even the Supreme Court has reprimanded you,” he said.

Poonawalla said the Congress leader should abandon his policy of “profit panic”.

“Stop this agenda of smearing India. Stop this policy of ‘panic for profit’. And remember that LoP does not mean propaganda leader,” he said.

Addressing tribal leaders from across the country at an event organized by the Adivasi Congress at Indira Bhawan, Gandhi warned on Wednesday that while an “economic tsunami” was approaching, the system was also rebelling due to public pressure.
