Water contamination deaths: Indore commissioner shunted out, 2 officials suspended

Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Friday evening that he has ordered the suspension of the Indore municipal official and also the removal of two senior officials following deaths due to water pollution.

In his post about X after a review meeting on the issue, CM Yadav said that his government will not tolerate any laxity regarding the tragedy and strict measures have been taken.

The CM said he ordered the “suspension” of municipal commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav and the removal of additional municipal commissioner Rohit Sissoniya and superintendent Sanjeev Shrivastava, in-charge of the Public Health Engineering department.
Earlier in the day, the government informed the Madhya Pradesh High Court that the Bhagirathpura health crisis has been classified as a “public health emergency” and the situation has successfully stabilized after implementation of emergency measures and continuous monitoring.

At least four deaths resulting from the contamination have been confirmed, according to officials.
