A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating an incident on Soho Road, Birmingham, and would like to speak to Mahroy Stephenson.

“During the police stop and search… a police officer suffered a head injury. He was treated at the hospital and thankfully discharged.”

The spokesman said Stephenson, 30, of Bartley Green, Birmingham, was wanted on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
