Poland to probe links between Epstein and Russia

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said he would launch an investigation into possible links between Poland’s late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and Russian intelligence, as well as any influence on Poland.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s recent release of millions of internal documents related to Epstein has revealed the late financier and sex offender’s ties to many prominent figures in politics, finance, academia and business — both before and after he pleaded guilty to prostitution charges in 2008.
Tusk told a government meeting on Tuesday that authorities would set up a team to investigate any possible impact in Poland from Epstein’s crimes, particularly regarding the possible involvement of Russian secret services.
Russia’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a written request for comment on Tusk’s claims. The Russian Embassy in Warsaw also did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
“More and more clues, more information and more and more comments in the global press are linked to the suspicion that this unprecedented pedophilia scandal was jointly organized by Russian intelligence services,” Tusk said.
“I don’t need to tell you how serious the possibility of Russian intelligence services jointly organizing this operation is for the security of the Polish state. This could mean that they also have indecent material against many leaders who are still active today.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in December that the Epstein files showed the hypocrisy of Western elites.
“From what I understand, here were all the Western ‘life teachers’ who looked down on Russia and lectured us about ‘democracy and human rights’ in interesting poses with equally interesting entertainment partners,” he said on Telegram.
