Iranian Speaker Ghalibaf declares ‘new world order’ led by the Global South
Referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s historical vision of global transformation, Galibaf stated that Iran’s ongoing resistance accelerated this geopolitical change and added that “the future belongs to the Global South.”

Galibaf said, “The world is on the verge of a new order. As President Xi said, ‘The transformation that has not been seen in a century is accelerating around the world’ and I emphasize that the 70-day resistance of the Iranian nation has accelerated this transformation. The future belongs to the Global South.”
It is no coincidence that Ghalibaf strategically appealed to President Xi. This development, which serves as a direct response to the broader geopolitical chess match being played between Washington, Beijing and Tehran, comes at a highly volatile period in global diplomacy.
Significantly, Ghalibaf’s remarks come on the heels of a high-stakes summit in Beijing where President Xi hosted President Trump. As Trump and Xi haggled over massive trade deals, tariffs and the flashpoint issue of Taiwan, Iran watched closely.
“The whole world is watching our meeting. A transformation unprecedented in a century is currently accelerating around the world, and the international situation is fluid and turbulent,” Xi said during the meeting.
“The world has reached a new crossroads. Can China and the United States overcome this challenge? Thucydides trap and create a new paradigm in major country relations?” Xi said, calling for greater stability and cooperation amid global uncertainty.
Xi touched upon the recent conflict between the USA and Iran in West Asia with his statement of “Thucydides trap”.
First popularized by Harvard academic Graham T Allison, the term highlighted the intense structural tensions and increased risk of conflict that arise when an emerging power challenges the dominance of an existing global power.
Xi also emphasized the importance of ties between the two countries, stating that both countries stand to gain through cooperation and lose through conflict.

“I always believe that our two countries have more common interests than differences. Success in one is an opportunity for the other. And a stable bilateral relationship is good for the world. China and the United States both gain from cooperation and lose from conflict.”
According to Iranian state media Press TV, Galibaf stated that the “resistance” of the Iranian nation has become “the driving force accelerating a transformation unprecedented in a century”, describing it as part of the new multipolar order.
The news stated that Iran’s “resistance” “revealed the fragility of the old US-led unipolar order and accelerated its inevitable decline”, while also inspiring countries seeking alternatives to “Western hegemony” from “Latin America to Africa and Asia”.
“From Latin America to Africa and Asia, developing countries are increasingly realizing that the era of Western hegemony, marked by sanctions, military adventurism and economic domination, is nearing its end,” the Press TV report said. he said.
