Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sets Record, Becomes Youngest To Score 50 In U-19 WC

India’s 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi added another important milestone to his fast-rising career on Saturday, becoming the youngest player to score a half-century in an Under-19 Men’s World Cup match.

Playing in India’s second group match against Bangladesh, the 14 years and 296 days old left-hander rewrote the record books by scoring 72 off 67 deliveries.

The previous record was held by Afghanistan’s Shahidullah Kamal, who scored a fifty against the West Indies at the age of 15 years and 19 days. Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam is now third in the list with his success against the West Indies in 2010.

Suryavanshi also surpassed Virat Kohli in the list of Indian batsmen with the most runs in Youth ODIs. Vaibhav has amassed 1,047 runs in just 20 matches, eclipsing Kohli’s 978 runs in 28 matches.
