Latrelle Pickett nearly had to be smuggled into Marvel Stadium on Wednesday night; So was Melbourne’s determination to keep its prized No. 12 selection under wraps.
And for Pickett, the cousin of Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett, what AFL draft legend Kevin Sheehan described as his biggest fling came as a bit of a surprise.
Pickett turns 20 in December, so he is slightly older than his peers in the draft, but he has impressed with his development at Glenelg this year.

“I’m talking to him [Kysaiah] she is now greatly inspired by me every day…she is one of my role models and heroes,” said Latralle.
An explosive striker and midfielder, Latralle has been gifted his shot by Kysaiah and believes he can make an immediate impact alongside his cousin in the 2026 first round.
“I definitely think I can make an impact. I think I’ve got to work hard this preseason, give it my all and give it a good shot. Just buckle down and hopefully I’ll have the talent to play in the first round,” Latralle said.
