Zohran Mamdani: Can Trump deport Zohran Mamdani? MAGA world fumes after Democratic socialist’s stunning New York victory

Mamdani defeated former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who was running as an independent, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa. Her victory over former governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa sparked angry reactions online claiming New York was “fried,” “ruined” and “done.”
‘Deport him to India’
The backlash against Zohran Mamdani turned ugly on social media, with many users showering Mamdani with anti-Muslim and anti-India comments. Never shy about accepting his faith, Zohran Mamdani was born in Uganda to Indian parents. Some netizens demanded his deportation, saying he should be “sent back to India”. Others called him a “communist” and a “jihadist.”

One user wrote: “You and Mamdani are the poster children for how broken our immigration system is! Go back to India!” Another added: “We should deport Ackman to Israel and Mamdani to India or wherever she’s from.”
Conservative commentator William Wolfe claimed that “Americans didn’t choose Mamdani, foreigners did,” calling the city a “third world metropolis that wears the Big Apple as its leather suit.” Another account called End Wokeness said: “Import third world masses. Elect third world politicians. Get third world politics.” One user declared that he would “never” visit New York, while another warned that Mamdani “has much larger and more comprehensive conquests in mind. New York is just the beginning.”
What did Trump say about Zohran Mamdani’s victory?
President Donald Trump backed down on Wednesday and repeated his threat to cut funding for New York City on Tuesday over the election of democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as mayor. Trump said about Mamdani, “We’ll help him. We want New York to be successful. We’ll help him. Maybe a little.”ALSO READ: Will millions of New Yorkers flee the city after Zohran Mamdani wins New York mayoral election? What the survey shows is worrying
Trump had previously threatened to not only cut off the city’s funding but also arrest and deport Mamdani if he won. Trump has repeatedly called Mamdani a “communist” and repeated it Wednesday. “If you want to see what the Democrats in Congress want to do to America, look at the results of yesterday’s elections in New York, where their party appointed a communist as mayor of the largest city in the country,” Trump said.
More than 2 million New York City residents voted in the election, according to the city’s Board of Elections; this was the largest turnout in a mayoral race in more than 50 years. Mamdani will be the city’s first Muslim mayor, the first of South Asian descent and the first to be born in Africa. He will also become New York’s youngest mayor in more than a century when he takes office.
Mamdani campaigned on aggressive cost-of-living proposals, including free buses, free child care and city-run grocery stores, and promised to make New York “better for ordinary people.” “In this moment of political darkness, New York will be the light,” he said in his victory speech.

Could Trump deport Zohran Mamdani?
Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda’s capital, to an ethnically Indian family. He moved to New York at the age of seven and became a naturalized US citizen in 2018. To be naturalized as a US citizen, an individual must be over 18 years of age and have lived in the US continuously as a green card holder for five years, or three years if married to a US citizen.
Under certain circumstances, U.S. citizens may lose their citizenship status through naturalization. This process is also called denaturalization. Can Mamdani be made neutral? According to Al Jazeera, experts say this is unlikely. “Denaturalization is limited to cases where the government can prove material fraud in the original applications,” Michael Kagan, a law professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, told Al Jazeera.

“This is rare and unlikely for Elon Musk or Zohran Mamdani. This seems like irresponsible rhetoric designed to scare political opponents.”
Denaturalization (the legal process of revoking a person’s U.S. citizenship) is extremely rare. This can only happen if authorities prove that the individual obtained citizenship through fraud or willful misrepresentation, joined a group that supported the violent overthrow of the U.S. government within five years of naturalization, or committed serious crimes such as terrorism or war crimes before becoming a citizen and concealed those facts during the process. In order for the US government to take such an action, it must present strong evidence to the court.
